Maybe your suggestions can get SM to look at the problem again. I gave up, but would still like to see this corrected so I could use SM on my profile
Since Smugmug seem to not want to fix this problem, if somebody can find out what might be the problem we could use Yahoo Pipes to fix the smugmug feeds up so it works.

Google Profiles says that it sees the feed, but it will not display the photos like it does if you use flickr or any other photo sharing website.

We'd love to fix it, our feeds work perfectly everywhere else, we don't know why Google is different.
This week in Google a TWiT podcast discuss the Google Profile feature (toward the end of the podcast). Maybe as this feature gets more press we will get more of a following who want it to work with a SM RSS feed.
i've got the same issue. I'm place holding with flickr, waiting for you guys to figure this one out...
I think they are standing by the line that their RSS is fine and the problem is with Google.
I have gotten lots of comments for people who click on my Google profile (I use it as a sig line in email) and I can say a few of my closest friends have asked why I switched back to flickr from SM.
Question for the SmugMug people - what was Google's answer? Maybe they're expecting something special or in a certain format so that pictures show up in the Google Profile.
I really don't want to start cross-posting my pictures all over the place again after I've tried to move everything into Smugmug and point everyone here...

The Google Profile is just a way to show people all your information (both in a public way and a private way). Having the RSS feed so that your pictures from SM show up is just a nice way of showing people who you are or what kind of pics you take...
I have asked what Google said to the Heroes on SM, but didn't get an answer. I'm not sure SM had actually contacted someone directly with Google to see what the issue is with the RSS syntax.
As more and more people use Google Profiles (for signatures in email, forums, etc) and with Google Wave, I am hoping that we can get SM to either correct the issue with Google or revamp how they do the RSS feeds.
Tried adding a smug mug feed today. Same problem still exists. I don't know if the problem is google side or smug mug side, or some combination of the two. But it's obviously a problem none of us end users can fix.
I first reported this issue awhile back when Google Profiles was more of a novel thing with your Google account.
Now Profiles are going to really take off as people start using Google Buzz. Buzz will create your profile (if you don't have one already). So more people are going to start taking interest in their Google Profile.
I'm not sure why someone at SM can't contact Google and figure this issue out, it should be a easy fix as we are just discussing RSS feeds.
I'm having to have my profile point to my Flickr account.
One thing I noticed is that a flickr feed shows one photo size for each image in the feed. Smugmug, even when a size is specified in the feed, has links to each image size that the gallery has available.
I'm no feed expert, but I wonder if there is an issue with Google reading that SmugMug feed and parsing it to show the images in the profile.
This is taking a long time to fix...
Doesn't seem likely that this is a big or complex problem: just need to output a feed in the right format.
Maybe it'd be possible to analyse the Flickr feed, then work out what fields are needed and create a Yahoo pipe that can translate the SM feeds into a Google compatible feed?
I'll get round to it eventually if no one else does...
I've been working on this problem for a year or so, too. I hate to have to link it to my Flickr account rather than my Smugmug account but seems to be the only choice until someone figures out an answer.
Well, I just created a Google Profile today and discovered the same issues. Was hoping I'd find a resolution here. Just thought I'd add my name to the list. :-)

A friend of mine who also uses SM suggested that we say one of the following to get it bumped up the request queue.
1. Ask S. Jobs to request it.
2. Tell them it's really called iprofile.
3. Tell it it looks awesome on the ipad.
I think I'll just request that they look at it again and try to get someone at Google to response to why it doesn't work with an RSS feed that obviously works in other Google products (Google Reader for one).

We're trying. We really are. We need assistance from Google. Our feeds are standard and they should just work there. We don't know why Google is rejecting.

Thanks Andy... is there somewhere we can email/post/twitter/call to help the process? I was just assuming that coming from a company like SM would get results better than me yelling at Google.

On the contrary- you and all the posters here should be emailing and tweeting at Google, of course we'll do our part, too.

Both contain data - it'd be lovely if we could get this figured out.

I asked Google support for help. Hopefully, this leads to the problem being fixed (SmugMug feeds in Google Profiles). http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Web+Search/thread?tid=7e5141b4c85c2e06&hl=en
I became a new SmugMug user this weekend, and I would like to have my photostream on my Google Profile
