    Nice detail and water.

A tad lower perspective would be great thumb.gif

Is this image altered? I took a photo of the same species a few months ago and it was not this dark.

Thanks. With regards the tad lower persepctive, are you referring to the height from where the shot was taken? If so, that was as close as I could get to his level.

Did you take a photo of this duck in New Zealand? Apart from setting a black and white point, sharpening, a little contrast adjustment this little fellow is about as close to his natural colour as I could get. It is not uncommon for the male to be this colour, or close to it. Probably a very good reason why they are referred to as the 'Black Teal'

Here's a similar shot from another website showing similar colours:

Very interesting. I photographed one on the Avon River in Christchurch last November. Not hugely different but clearly more brown on the body than this image or the image in the link. Maybe seasonal differences or something? I posted images of them in the forum here.

Great shots those of yours, and obviously in the heart of summer with all that green reflecting out of the water. My shot was in the shade with a lot of dark reflections in the water due to it being autumn here and the leaves having fallen. If the sun was on his back I dare say the colours would have shown up more brown than black. Anyway, did you enjoy my home town?
