On our way home from Tahoe, we stopped by Mono Lake for a little break, and I got a few shots that I thought I'd share. It's a beautiful place, even in the midday sun.

Very cool shots, Joel! I really like the strong reflections.

Would have been nice to have less harsh lighting, but you did very well with what was available! thumb.gif

One of these days, I plan to make it up there...

I especially like the first three...and of course the last! :D The water looks like glass. It makes the harsh look inviting.

Stunning is a good description, the best I've seen.

I've been there twice and I've never seen the water close to that still.

    Nice work

    Nice series.
In particular, I really enjoy #1 for the closer backdrop of the mountains, and #3 for the foreground interest.
    Good job.

Thanks, Chris. You should make it out there. That whole eastern Sierra corridor is just wonderful, and I plan on spending much more time there.

    Take care,

I've driven by dozen of times, but never stopped. ne_nau.gif

    Nice job.

Thanks, Mike!! I'm amazed you haven't stopped there. It's right in your backyard after all, and I know you seek out the interesting locations. It must be that effect where locals never visit points of interest because they're always there, while others travel from far and wide to see them. :D

Thanks, Eia!! Those aren't long exposures either. The water looked just like that.

Thanks, Corey!! Yes, the "little freak" in the shot is my Emily. iloveyou.gif
She hates to have her picture taken, so capturing her candid is about the only I can ever get a shot of her. She really dug Mono Lake though.

Thanks, Rags! Wow, that's quite a compliment. :wow

I've been there several times over the years, and had never seen it so beautiful either. It's nice getting lucky for a change. nod.gif

BTW, speaking of calm water and reflections, I hope you saw this thread from the same trip. Donner Lake Sunrise.

    Thanks again for checking in.

I bet #1, #3, #6 and #8 would look splendid if matted and framed "Big". thumb.gif

Excellent compositions and I too like the glassy water and deep blue colors. Nice work. clap.gif

Thank you, sir! While Emily inherited my dark hair (her mom's a blond), she definitely did inherit her pretty face.
