Martin in Flight

Female Purple Martin taken last week while at my sons golf tournament. Any thoughts on dof here. I guess this is ok with just the head in focus, but would it be better with the entire bird in focus or is that just a matter of opinion?

You got the focus on the eye/head and that's all that matters IMO. Great job!

For my in-flight shots, I try to stay around 1/1000 & f/8.

Since the head and especially the eye is tack sharp the shallow DOF works. You even captured the slight glint of purple above the eye. Well done.

Nice work on a difficult capture. A deeper DOF would have been nice but the capture works.
