Haha... its amazing that I could make money doing this... its so much fun!! I just recently was offered some "subbed" work from a print designer. She needs some onsite photographs done of "still life" items and scouted people for an ad she is doing. I have to find people to model (I don't think it will be a problem) and drive to the location. She's asking me to give her a quote for this. I've never charged for my work before... please and fair offers on what I should ask for this work.
IE:
Should I charge per hour?? Per shot? Per person? I don't want to under or over quote as this could be a great foot in the door. Your feedback means alot.
IDEAS... anyone???

If you were in the L.A. area, you could easily get $150.00 per hour, however if you were in the Lincholn, NE area you would most likely get only $50.00 per hour. You would have to judge it on your area and what you feel comfortable charging.
As for how, I would say charge by the hour. If you are going to be working full days, I would say set a 1/2 day, and full day price as well as the hourly price. Don't forget to add expenses in there too. If you are going to be driving all over scouting and looking for people, you will need to bill for that as well.
Hope that helps a bit.

And don't forget to get model releases from the people you are photographing.
A lot of semi-hobbiest-semi-pro sales are sales to individuals, and while I offer no comment on the ethics, the reality is most of those are firmly under anyone's radar. But once you start getting money from a business, there's a paper trail.
Most times it probably won't mater, but you might check your area to see how aggressive they are.
