Connecting to SmugMug from MyCanvas

Decided to give the MyCanvas books a try as a gift for my wife on Mothers Day. I am having issues trying to import from my SmugMug galleries to MyCanvas. I have retrieved photos in the past from SmugMug, but for whatever reason I cannot do so today.

I'm not sure what kind of response you're looking for, but we had to temporarily remove the features depending on OAuth because of a security hole. Other sites like Yahoo!, Netflix, and Google are doing similar things until the OAuth community can come up with a solution.

    Sorry!

    Sorry!

That sucks. So, is there any other way to have my SmugMug galleries available for ordering MyCanvas books?

No, we'll have it back as soon as the Oauth folks get things sorted. Hang in there.

Thanks Andy! Can you give me a rough estimate time wise. One of the books I want to order is for mothers day and I would like to have something ordered rather soon.

    Sorry, but there's no timeline.

In the meantime, I suppose, you could upload directly to MyCanvas without importing from SmugMug. It's more hassle, but should allow you to place your order in time.

Noeltykay, the connection is back up. Sorry for this inconvenience. We extended the discount to 8 May (new coupon code, SMUGGY) and if you get your order in by tomorrow we'll upgrade the shipping for free so you can still get by Mother's Day. In case you didn’t get it, here is the email we sent out to all SmugMug MyCanvas users:

    Dear MyCanvas customer,

If you’ve used MyCanvas in the past few days, you probably noticed that you weren’t able to refresh your SmugMug photo albums or import new photos from SmugMug. Because of a technical problem with the OAuth protocol, which our back-end system uses to talk to SmugMug’s back-end system, SmugMug had to take the photo import feature offline for a few days. The OAuth issue affected a lot of other sites too (like Google, Netflix and Yahoo!), but it was a real bummer for our SmugMug customers who were working on gifts for Mother’s Day.

The good news is that the problem’s been fixed and our connection with SmugMug is back online. If you need a gift by Mother’s Day and missed the April 28 ground shipping deadline, it’s not too late. Place your order by midnight PDT on Friday, May 1 and we’ll automatically upgrade you to expedited shipping.

In case you’re working on some other kind of project and just wanted to take advantage of the Mother’s Day discount, we’re extending the promotion for an extra week. Order by Friday, May 8 and you can still save 25% on books or 15% on posters. To get the discount, just enter this code at checkout: SMUGGY (the original Mother’s Day coupon code, MD2009, will still expire on May 1).

Thanks for using MyCanvas and for bearing with us over the past few days. As always, I look forward to seeing your feedback on our blog and on the DGrin forum. To send us an email, click the “Feedback” link (under “Support” in our main site navigation menu).
