A different view of Yosemite Valley, from Glacier Point 6-5-05.

Park was packed with people, no sign of wildlife anywhere, but the view made up for it.

Hey Ed, that first one's a stunner! Nice job. I assume not everyone can get to that vantage point? Do you climb?

Thanks, it's an amazing thing to look over the edge and 3k feet below is the valley floor.

Actually anyone can get to Glacier Point as long as the road or 4 mile trail is open. It's only about a 1/4 mile from the parking lot to this view. They finished clearing the road and it opened about two weeks ago, it's one of my favorite spots in the park.

    Packed with people
You know when we were all there, Ed and I were driving in the valley and we had traffic backups. I mentioned to Ed that I couldn't imagine what the place would be in the summer, and I didn't want to experience it either.

But, I'd try for driving to Glacier point, and for taking 120 across to Mono Lake...

    I love that first photo!

    Thanks Ian,

I had every plan to make the walk out to Sentinal but it was COLD and windy up there and my shooting partners (wife and little one) just got over their colds. I'll try it again in a couple of weeks.

By 10:00am the parking area at the trailhead to sentinal was packed.

There was still quite a bit of snow in the meadows up there.

There is also a little extra water still in the valley from the flood.

And for those of you that know me, I just can't help but stop here lol3.gif

Those are stunning Ed. I'm going up next weekend and havn't been there in 20 years. We figure it will be crowded. I'm staying thru Monday, so hope that helps. After seeing your photos I'm really excited! Can I ask you, did you use a polarizer or UV filter? I bought a few sizes this week for the trip figuring I needed them anyway. I havn't shot landscape much at all. Do you stick to a certain aperture, generally? Thanks!

Thanks very much, I did use a polarizer off and on during the day, also a graduated ND filter early in the day.

I really don't stick to a certain aperture, just kind of depends what the light is like and what I'm shooting..

    Don't forget your tripod...

I keep looking at these beautiful photos and saying to myself.......hmmmmm maybe it was a good thing I didn't go on the trip cause I am learning about all the things I need that I don't own yet hehehe.

I really love the colours, and what an amazing sight it must have been to actually have been there in person.

Thank you for sharing.......... Skippy (Australia)

That first shot is awesome, just like everyone said. But I also like the small cascade shot. Love the dappled sunlight.
