Street Shots

A friend came to visit this weekend so we headed down to the strip for some street shooting. I just picked up a new 50mm lens and wanted to try it out. I'm still getting used to shooting with it so some of the focus points are not exactly where they need to be but some turned out ok I suppose.

Thoughts?

Nice set, Steve. thumb.gif Good use of DOF and it looks like you handled the problem of uneven lighting well. Nice conversions, though I think you could push the contrast a bit. I think #8 is my favorite. Which 50 are you using?

Thank you Richard, I do agree on possibly bumping the contrast a bit. I like the contrast of #1 the best so I'm shooting for that as my bar.

Actually I'm just using the good ol' Canon 50mm f/1.8. I love street photography with the prime lens because it forces me to be interactive yet still remain somewhat obscured to keep from being too obvious. For the price, I think its a great lens to practice with.

Thanks Mud... #8 really had some wonderful light illuminating her. #9 was a sweet heart and allowed me to indulge in a few shots before she scurried off.

5, 6, and 8 are my favorites! Really though, a great series. Some of these together would make a nice display.

Beautiful use of DOF, very nice conversions.clap.gif

#4 makes me laugh - like she's thinking "what's this guy doing...better get that camera outta my face."

Actually you are right on. #4 looked at me with that "you better get that camera out of my face look" and I took the message and moved along.

Just out of curiosity has anyone noticed the child in #12. Maybe I need a crop of what he is doing for the full effect?

I loved shooting on the strip... great place to see interesting people. Pretty much my first time street shooting and getting in people's faces. I was surprised at how most people either didn't care, or were willing to smile.

Not trying to threadjack, but I got one of those myself yesterday.

I think #8 and #13 are my two favorites... and yes, #12 should be cropped for emphasis. rolleyes1.gif

Yeah, I noticed it immediately. I think it wouldn't be as funny if it were cropped.
