Maximum number of keywords

Ok, I'm in the process of keywording my galleries and photos. I've searched so please excuse if this has already been asked and answered.

Is there a maximum number of keywords that you can use for galleries and photos? It's hard to know when to stop.

Thanks, is there a character limit for gallery keywords? I added a whole bunch and they seem to have been cut short. All separated by commas.

Also, can I add keywords to my gallery descriptions and have the text hidden like with my bio, but still searchable from google? (assume I'll do this with a div id and a bit of css telling to "display none"?
