Picasa uploader stripping photo info for cropped photos

I am shooting Nikon RAW images and using Picasa to organize and upload to SmugMug using the add-on SmugMug upload button. I have had problems with sorting galleries by Data Taken and just figured out what is going on. When I crop an image in Picasa before uploading it using the SmugMug Picasa uploader, the image shows up in SmugMug without any Photo Info and thus my sort by Photo Taken date does not work.

The first photo was cropped and lost all photo info. The 2nd photo was uploaded manually, the rest were uploaded (along w/ the first) using Picasa, but were not cropped and therefor retained Photo Info details.

perhaps you have a setting in picasa to strip metadata?

Thanks for your prompt reply. You guys are the best.

All of the other photos in the same set came in with photo info. I tried to repeat this with another photo and it didn't happen. I uploaded the same photo again (small dog flying) and it worked this time. However, when the photo first showed up the photo info was empty. When I came back to check 10 min later the photo info was there.

Either the Picasa uploader has a bug that only happens randomly or something is happening during the SmugMug indexing that is screwing with the photo info. Maybe if you sort before everything is fully indexed?

Here's another gallery I am having sort issues with. These photos were also uploaded with Picasa 3 but were JPG originals. It appears that all of the photo info is there, but the 1st photo is not sorting correctly when I try and sort by Date Taken.
