A Window without a View

strange, a window, just to let in air
for after all there's nothing out there

not a building, a person, a road, or any of that
not a bird or tree, or even a desert rat

i'd like a place where I could sit in thought
and gaze upon beauty, but here there is not.

just sand, salt and dust, and an occasional wind
to blow it around and make it featureless again.

i sit quiet in the shadows as i gaze through
at a barren world outside the window without a view.

Thank you Lauren. Without the little rhyme it's just a window without a view :)

    I second the "mesmerizing!!"

After reading the poem, I just sat and looked out the window for a few minutes...
    Awesome work, Walter! thumb.gif

This is pleasant to view. I enjoy photos of windows and doors. I had a similar series posted 'windows thru time' with a poem. It must create a sense of time in our thoughts when we look thru windows; like a child staring out a window longing to go out and play.

Is there a story with this? Nicely seen!

Thanks Eia. I like your series. The verse is fun. With mine I'm trying to illustrate someone who has what they're looking for, but doesn't recognize it. The little poem came to mind when I saw the scene, a window without a view. I thought it was quite a pretty sunset, although quite plain. I like exploring these older buildings. I'm looking for one of my grails- a shot similar to the sleeve for Pink Floyd's, Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd, where several windows are being looked through at once.

Someday I find what I'm looking for, and hopefully on terms where I can just shoot a straight shot rather than getting into compositing or an elaborate setup like Thorgerson did. It's a lot of fun searching.
