Keyword Best Practices

What's your preference for keywords that consist of more than 1 word? Do you break it into 2 keywords, or use quotes to keep it 1 keyword?

For example, I'm adding keywords to a Washington DC gallery, so for the Washington Monument my options might be:

"Washington DC", "Washington Monument"
Washington, DC, Monument

I've read the SmugMug Help Page on Keywords as well as the Wiki Entry on the subject and understand all the possibilities and how it works, but I'm looking for feedback from experienced users on what their preferences are.

I'm using Adobe Lightroom to add keywords prior to uploading.

Okay, thanks. I wasn't casting doubt on what's said in the wiki and help docs, but they don't really advise on what you should do, just what you can do.

I would add the keywords washington, "washington dc", "washington monument" to that photo.
