Today I was trying out my new lens 17-55 2.8 and took a few shots of our traditional Highland cattle. Hope you like and c & c is more than welcome with this new lens.

Bob

So THAT is what I saw on a long country ride. They really are odd looking.

Nice shots. The only thing I'd suggest is avoiding the distracting backrgound in a few or the one where the tips of the horns are positioned right at the skyline.

Congrats on the new lens. Nice and sharp and must be a pleasure to use!

I had a chuckle, these two were in sequence in my point & shoot from my trip to Mull last year :D

Nice shots, Bob. At least they don't spray paint the cattle the way they do the sheep.

Very nice series Bob. I saw one of these several years ago at a farm on Block Island (off the coast of Rhode Island). I thought at the time it was a Yak headscratch.gif

BTW You left off the ] at the end of the image tag in #2 that's why its not showing up.

Thanks everyone for your replies which I truly appreciate. I am sure I would rather look and photograph these magnificent guys than turn them into Andy's sirloin steaks. Hehehe. Thanks for doing the fix Andy.

Thanks Pardes I was aware of the background but I didn't want to argue with these fellows as they are quite big. I did use 2.8 hoping that it would blur out the background but somehow it hasn't worked. If anyone can tell me why I would appreciate it.
Thanks for the tip about the horns on the skyline I will certainly remember that one.
Yes, Andy and Pathfinder recommended this lens to me and although it was expensive I am more than pleased with their recommendations. If it is good enough for them it is more than good enough for me.

    Hieland Coo! iloveyou.gif

    Very nice pictures, Bob.

I was enchanted with the cattle on our trip to Scotland many years ago. I managed to find a plush "Coo" to bring back. :D

Thanks Lori and I am pleased you enjoyed them. Yeah I suppose you could call them punk rock cattle but I will leave them to sing and rock on their own.
