Hi
I like street and travel photography and I chose Francisco Fernandez because I like how his photos
are showing the local color/spirit of the places he photographed.
Here is the link to his work:

... and here are some of my photos trying to emulate the same style.
Please tell me what you think, thank you

I love #1 , though I wish it were just a hair brighter and #2, though I'm thinking that a vertical crop would work better (but would not be an emulation of Mr. Fernandez).
Nice set over all.
Good luck!!

Thank you so much Virginia, you are always so nice and helpful.
I loved the #1 too and I submitted here for the only reason of getting some feed-back on it
My first thought for this theme of the contest was targeting Henri Cartier Bresson, with this photo:
That's why I made a version of it B&W... a little too ambitious perhaps...
Here it is. I know he took it at day time with a lot of contrast, but my opportunity to find it was in the afternoon.
I tried hard to give more contrast to it, but this is all I could do:
- Any thoughts?

I like it in b&w, but I think that you need to burn in the sky. (Ditto for the color version.) The big bright area distracts the from the rest of the photo.
Also, much as I like the sun on the railing, it, too, keeps the viewer from noticing the people at first. I only realized their importance to the photo after seeing the Cartier-Bresson picture. This suggests to me that the weakness in your photo as a Cartier-Bresson emulation is that the people just don't stand out. They are lit much the same as the wall behind them and sort of fade into it.
Which is not to say that I don't like the photo. I do.
Hope this helps.

Yes, I know that the people are not standing out as they should be.
Thank you again

Do you mind if I ask where this was taken? I reallt like the look of the buildings and the curve to the path. I want to look around the corner and see what is there.

One thing I would try on #1 is to give it a cross-processed look. I believe Fernandez' color photos are cross-processed or at least have that feel to them. Can you reduce the highlights on the railing as well? Also, I'd suggest you crop it a little tighter on the left, to get rid on that cable or whatever it is in the upper right. That may also off center the railing which is right in the middle in the current crop.
Just a few suggestions.

Wow, a lot of choices here...
I will give you my best opinion..
# 6 is too busy, It is a nice photo, really nice, but there is a lot of competition in the composition coming in from the background, I dont think it is set apart enough.
# 7 not good composition, the buildings to the left and right are just not working for me and because of the angle and distance it was shot at, I don't think a crop will fix it.
#4 Seems to washed out as far as color and detail
#1 would be good warmed up a bit, maybe add some warmth to your colors.
#5 is ok, but I don't think it is as strong of an emulation and the graffiti in this shot just seems out of place to me, but that's just me..
Number 2 and Number 3 Are my favorites and best emulate your photographer, I think, ( especially) number 2.. I love number 2 and just a little crop work on it to the right and some sharpening and a little color work and I think it is a real contender... It has a lot of character and to me feels like an Italian Market.
Nice work!!!! hope I helped some and made sense...
Best of luck to you..
