Water Lilies - Please give me some C&C

I haven't felt too good lately and tried to stick close to home on yesterday's outing. I stopped in an industrial park that I pass by frequently -- voila, I happened upon a nice little pond with tiny waterfalls and some freshly blooming water lilies. I have tried a variety of processes, some artsy and some not. Please give me your thoughts on any or all of these. I can easily re-shoot if there are any specific problems.

Getting a nice water lily shot is on my list of photos to take, so please give me a hand with getting a nice one.

Thanks!!
Lauren

1. A natural look, with a bit of saturation boost

2. Same blossom, closer in

3. Gradient applied for added boost (with other PS tweaks also)

4. Accidentally inverted the hue/sat layer and got this!

5. B&w - think it needs more contrast

I think you can cross it off the list now Lauren. These are terrific! Don't care much for the B&W though...maybe it's just that it's a let down after seeing the colors. #1 & #2 my favorites. clap.gifclap.gif

I love the color on the first two, the lily is very vibrant. I am not fond of the B&W it doesn't give a good sense of the beauty of the flower.

Thanks all! The B&W did not turn out as I'd hoped but I thought I'd post it anyway. Your comments confirm what I thought when I saw it.

Jack, glad to know I can take this off my "to do" list. thumb.gif It's a long list but one subject shorter now.

    Hey Lauren,

I like the first shot the best. I think if you keep reworking the B&W it could be something special.

I probably would have liked the black and white shot if you wouldnt have posted the first two images

The colors are so nice that taking them out of the image ruins it for me

    I love the first two

I'd say photo #2 has the most impact for me. Prefer color version over
the BW of that one. But thats just IMHO. :D

    Lauren,

I think #1 is the one IMO. The compisition makes this one stand out. The lilly in the lower right and the Shallow DOF of the rest of the pond makes this a strong image. COlors are noice all around in all the images so the composition in 1 makes me like this one the most.
Would love to hear from you on my blog, or website!

HI Lauren.....The size you have been posting in is much betterthumb.gif

You did a great job on the 1st picture.... I would clone out the black dots on the bottom petal if it was mine.thumb.gif Are you going to print this one for your wall?????

I like the 3rd one too. I think that it would show better if you darkened the back ground a little.

I like the 4th one, but probably wouldn't hang on my wall......:D azzaro

These are rally good Lauren, and I like #4 with the inversion. I also like the perspective on # 3 because we are not looking down on the flower clap.gif
