Sings of spring - grouse..

Greetings,

This was a comedy of errors but I did manage a capture :D

Imagine this, the grouse is on one side of a willow, the dog is about ten feet closer to me but on the other side. There is a squirrel running across the driveway on the other side of the tree.

Nobody notices anyone else...

The camera is on a tripod about eight feet away from the front door. I make a dash for it, set up at the door. Wouldn't you know it, because of the angle, the bar between the top glass and the bottom screen is right in the middle of the frame.

Quickly raise the camera, I'm on my tip toes and as I frame the shot realize the tripod legs aren't set right and I'm wobbling..

I did manage to get a shot but the grouse soon turned his back to me and although he hung around for the better part of an hour, he was either behind branches or in the shade...

To add insult to injury, I didn't notice that I had been playing with Program mode and had EV set to -.3, thanks for raw :wink

Grouse 2 (Small).jpg

Cheers, Don

AAArgh! I feel your pain. Had a similar incident recently where I took around 200 photos forgetting that I had previously been playing with camera setings. While I always shoot RAW, this 200 were in jpeg normal!!!

All in all good save on the grouse :D
