Does anyone know how to get your pictures wide and bigger like this?

I love the look on wider pictures just don't know how to customize it.

Yeah mine are wide like that...you have to edit the HTML so the pic is about 540px wide, just delete the width and the aspect ratio will not change.

Where do I change the HTML at though? on the post it's self?

In the blog posting frame...you can choose compose OR edit HTML.

Also depends on how wide your main section of your blog is. if you have 2 columns or 1?

another easy way to do it since you already have smugmug is to just point to the photo in your blog post.

i.e. just use the "get a link" and say choose medium. then insert:

<img src="http://brianhancock.smugmug.com/photos/520721234_Lyhjy-M.jpg">

You didn't include a link to your blog, so I can't see how it is currently set up. Is your posts column wide enough to handle that photo size?

(Update a little later - oh, I just realized your blog is accessed via a drop-down. Looks like you're using one of the default templates. Follow the link below for changing the width of the post column. I use percentages for mine, but you can follow the same logic if you want to continue using actual widths.)

Keep in mind that you can use custom sizes when you post photos in your blog. See http://www.smugmug.com/help/custom-photo-sizes.

To change the width of the post column, see the info in Stretchy blog format. If you haven't seen it, that post is a part of the thread HOW TO match your blog to your smug site (blogger-specific).

I use one of the "wide" schemes and the code that Scott sent you. It looks great, but I have noticed on pc's with resolution set low that the photos begin to crop along the right to fit those screens. Widescreens and laptop ratios are unaffected......so I keep posting that way and recommend a resolution for those with the old style monitors. My stats say that most of my visitors use high res settings on their monitors anyway.
