Show some examples, perhaps someone had it happen before and can shed some light.

No matter what shutter speed I use the birds are blurry the back ground is weird, even with the camera shake tutorial on dview.

Odd... see if you can post a picture. That might help clarify the issue.

Ah, thanks. It looks to me like the focus is slightly in front of the Robin. I remember reading that you had been trying manual focus. Sometimes I forget to switch back to auto focus, could that be the culprit? I don't want to make any insulting comments, but I have to ask. If you're using the autofocus, is the red light confirmation in the viewfinder (just a quick flash on my Olympus) lighting on the subject; in this case, the Robin?

As far as the background is concerned, that seems like a typical strong backlight result. The light is so bright that the sensor is overloaded and you get the resulting white background. There is really no way around it other than literally moving around so that the light is behind you, and/or lighting the side of the subject you want to capture. Overcast skies can also cause this, or at least it has for me.

    I hope this helps somewhat.

It may be. I'd say to switch it over to autofocus and take some test shots. Look through the viewfinder and take note of which autofocus point lights up, then confirm that with the preview on the LCD screen. It really annoys me when the camera wants to use a different point that I want, so sometimes I just change it to the center AF point only. I can then place that point over my subject, half shutter press to lock the focus, recompose the shot and finally take the pic.

As you guys and gals can see my focus is fine, I just didn't have the camera set right. And this morning I will try again with the birds.

These are just test pictures and I really didn't use digital push at all.
