So I am thinking about getting my wife (the aspiring professional photography) a membership to the following two: Professional photographers of America and National Association of Photoshop Professionals.
Are they worth it, are they recognized, does it help in bringing her creadability.
I posted this thread here because I did not know where else to post.

I would opt for PPA of Napa to start with.....what you need to do is print off their lists of BENEFITS and see which you both feel would be of worth to you at the start of this venture......
Personally it would be PPA for me...and yes they are recognized and do bring credibility at least in this part of the country.....along with all of the discounts for equipment and libilty insurance and equipment insurance....once she is doing business with a camera it is no longer elgible to be on a rider for your home owners policy and I have known a few photogs that got the ROYAL 1/4-20 put to them because their gear got stolen and they placed the claim with their Home owners comapny and when asked do you make money with the equipment.....of course they answered yes.....no claim as it was commerical equipment...........
You need to do some research to see if the target market is sensitive to organizations as credentials and, if so, which organizations. This can vary by the region and even by location. It also matters how these would be used with other credentials like:
Local organization membership
Educational credentials
Work history
Customer endorsements and client lists
Equipment and software competence
etc.
