Hi All. I lurk from time to time, but seems like good people here! I thought I would share some photos, since I have seen a lot of MX photos. I am a motorsports photog but have never shot dirtbikes/motocross before. I follow the series and that really helps being a fan, knowing what to expect, and to preplan shots. Below are a few random photos from early afternoon practice, and Heats following. At first people were coming right out of the gate, and putting in some hot laps, but everyone was highsiding, going over the bars, i mean these were pretty big crashes........ seems at that point people slowed down, until maintenence was out there with the water truck.
AFTERNOON PRACTICE:
Some of the Lites class racers were brave enough for the big triple along the west side of the stadium.
Stewart takes his first laps at Seattle for 2009
Reed takes a glance over his shoulder
Alessi out on a lap
Bubba lost the front end of his Yamaha, and the front went off the top of the burm, under the haybail. The bike was caught for quite some time, and when he was freed, he acknowledged the crowd, got them all pumped up, and did a solo half lap around the track. Finishing off with a heel clicker off the triple for the crowd.
Few friends in the front row
Opening ceremonies:
I finished up dinner, walked down the corridor, and found Yamaha's Josh Grant in the hallway with his mechanic, warming up his bike.
Waiting on his call before heading out onto the track for a lap
Andrew Short throws out a huge whip for the crowd, after they light off a few mortar shells
Stewart came out and simply rallied the crowd!
Reed followed suit
Ivan Tedesco looked very comfortable in the sandy conditions in Seattle
Villapoto and Windham get great starts, heading 1 and 2.
As was with most of the night, Stewart gets a bad start, and gets caught in traffic
Nate Ramsey across the triple with a wide angle shot
Grant hits the burm and throws some dirt at the corner workers
Lites riders were on it
Reed once again takes a glance...
Stewart puttin some power down to the rear
You could tell it was time for jockeying for every position
Rider 106 really had trust in the front end. He would get extremely low at times
Villapoto through turn 3
Stewart cuts the burm for the early line, hoping to get a drive out on Villapoto
Track crew member
And more of this to come tonight........... Flips, stunts, and the main event.
Hope you like them, if theres any interest I'll post main event/ceremony photos. Thanks everyone. :barb

...more to come!
Here is some more from the race! Again, these were NOT what I would call the best shots of the night, but they hopefully tell a story since they were used in a few articles for promotions of the Seattle event.
Here are some highlight photos of the supercross main event. These are not particularly the BEST photos I would say, that I took this evening, yet these were picked hopefully to tell part of the story of what happened and who was leading/winning on the evening.
Hope you like
Lites up first.......
Holeshot
Goes for the pass, but loses the front in the soft Seattle sand.
Dungey takes the lead early and never looked back.
Dungey solidifies his championship yet again.
Interviews with SpeedTV
Second place Canard seemed quite content with second.
Tedesco riding well, ready to rock in Seattle
The holeshot specialist gets the last few words from his mechanic; before yet again, getting the holeshot.
Villopoto looking suprisingly calm before the main event.
Reed firing up his 450
Gate drops, Reed and Stewart are no where near the front, but Allesi once again takes the holeshot.
Allesi out to the early lead, and holding a good pace.
The defining moment of the race!!!
Ivan was smooth all night
Ryan putting down some consistant laps
Ryan acknowledges the crowd on the second half of the last lap, and the fist pumps are returned right back at him!
Its official! Local racer from Poulsbo wins the Seattle round!
And of coarse; the fireballs start flying.
Bubba takes the overall points lead, and cant be too unhappy with a 2nd place finish.
The winner
Taking it all in, and enjoying his first win in the top class.
Sharing a congrats and respect.
Dad telling Bubba he raced well; and accomplished the goal
After avoiding being sprayed earlier, I was ready for Ryan to get his moment.
And after all was said and done, I asked Ryan for a quick local shot. This was the last photo of the night after I congratulated him.
