Logging in without a footer

Hypothetically speaking (wink) ... Say I've used the new easy site customization feature and turned off the smugmug footer.

Now how do I log into the site without the Login option at the bottom? Is there a URL I can use?

    Let me rephrase ... is it possible to log back into my site (with domain name) without the Login link in the footer?

    See, I had already discovered that I could go to dwterry.smugmug.com and login (pretty much the same idea you have). But I can no longer log into the site on my domain name at www.dterryphotography.com and logging in to dwterry.smugmug.com doesn't carry over.

    Yes, I can do everything I need to at dwterry.smugmug.com (so I'm not in panic mode). But I try to do everything at www.dterryphotography.com so that I don't accidentally send out a smugmug.com URL to my customers (it happens) because I only want them to see and remember my domain.

    How about removing the "Powered by SmugMug" and leaving the "login" is this possible or how 'bout a hack?

    As it is now - although a noble gesture to allow us to remove smug branding, its not worth the current cost of loosing the login - :cry - will there be a compromise coming?

    Although I no nothing of coding - it would seem it shouldn't be that hardne_nau.gif

    I would be happy if something like /login were to work.

    i.e. http://www.dterryphotography.com/login

    Then it doesn't have to be in the footer for everyone else to see, yet I can still get to it.

    I don't have the login link in my footer. I just login at www.smugmug.com as Andy said above, then I switch to my site. Are you having a problem with getting that sequence to work?

    GUys I really don't understand. You login at www.smugmug.com as our login help page has been saying for nearly 7 years :D

    Then, you just click 'your photos' and you're at yoursite.smugmug.com - you can then just hit your own bookmark for www.yourdomain.com if you wish.

    We have impovements to the advanced sitewide customizing page and the easy customizer, coming this week, that should help more.

    Uh... that SHOULD NOT work! (and it doesn't work for me)

    smugmug.com and mydomain.com are two different domains and should NOT be sharing login information!!!

    (and for me, they do not)

    When I log into www.smugmug.com I can easily access dwterry.smugmug.com ... that works because both URLs are on the smugmug.com domain. But after logging into smugmug.com and then switching over to www.dterryphotography.com I see that I am NOT logged in.

    I've tried both Firefox and IE and it "correctly" does not log me into my own domain.

    Andy, if you want to try it out on my site I'll be happy to send you my password.

    I agree, when logging in @ smugmug.com my site re-directs to my domain name, setup this way for google statistics, following the re-directs I am not logged in. ne_nau.gif

    I have not removed the footer as of yet but would like the otion.

    I also would be happy to supply access for you to evaluate.

    I can help you with this if you want, I use it on my site...can you find mine on my home page?...its there mwink.gif

    Why shouldn't that work? It certainly works for me--for both of my SmugMug sites. ne_nau.gif

    Okay, so that's the part I missed, the refresh. The minute I clicked on one of the menu's and switched pages I was logged in. clap.gif

    this being said, to "J Allen" I would still love to know how to place the hidden login on my Hompage...

    Add this to the top of your custom header box:
    <div id="secret">
    <a href="javascript:void(0)"

    onclick="window.location='https://secure.smugmug.com/login.mg?goTo='+window.location.href">.</a>
    </div>

    Add this to your CSS:

    /*====Secret====*/
    #secret {position:absolute; z-index:99; top: 5px; left: 0px;}
    #secret  a {padding: .2em 1em;color: black; cursor: default;}
    #secret a:hover {color: black; background: none;}

    Now go find it....

    It will be in the top-left hand corner of your page, just click around there till you find it <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/thumb.gif&quot; border="0" alt="" >

    Thanks Joe it works nicely, only one other question...probably a stupid one,

    Once the footer is gone how do you log off???

    Okay I answered my own, I can enter the control panel and select logoff from there. Or is there another way without entering the control panel?

    I just go to my control panel and use the smugmug header and hit log-off....hmmm...you could probably make a hidden "log-off" button on the opposite side.

    I like the thought, if you come up with the code for hiding the logoff I would be interested....
