I have created a poster in CS 2 InDesign - it contains several images. If I export it to jpeg the resolution is way to low to make poster size prints. How should I go about creating something in InDesign I can then sell on SmugMug?

Can I upload a .pdf for sale to a SmugMug gallery?

No, but you can link the pdf from another website on your Smuggy site. http://andydemo.smugmug.com/gallery/1587996_jct2U

Here's how to get a print rez Jpeg file from Indd:

Method 1 (if you have photoshop):
Export press/high quality print rez PDF from InDesign.
Open in Photoshop with the rez set to at least 300dpi.
    Save (for web) as jpeg.

Method 2 (if you do not have photoshop):
InDesign outputs jpegs at 72dpi at the document size.
If you need higher resolution, say for print, you need to enlarge the original document--the InDesign file.

For example: a 10" x10" InDesign Document will save out a 720px x 720px image (10" x 72dpi). If you wante that file to be print resolution, you would need to go roughly 4.5 times bigger, to 45" x 45" and then save a jpeg. You would end up with a 3250px x 3250px image, which would give you a print rez of 325 dpi @ 10" x 10".

edited to add: I would have to say that's one of InDesigns bigger shortcomings, IMO

Thank you so much! This was all I needed.
