Hi, guys! I just finished a project which culminated into a photobook
(which accounts for the white spaces on some of the photos due
to the spreads).

Anyway, I wasn't able to ask for cc bc it's finals week and it was due
Tuesday -_- so I thought to do it now. At least I can still fix them
even if they already were sent to the printers.

I think my major problem is color. I just have the hardest time figuring out
how much color cast there is and if it's not pleasing. My monitor is
uncalibrated and I also have a tendency to juice up the colors.

Also, what do you think about the composition? I hip-shoot 80% of
the time, so a lot of my pictures come as a surprise to me when
I plug them into my computer. Although here #3-4 I took with my
eye on the viewfinder.

Anyway, what do you think works and what do you think doesn't?

Thanks in advance, and #4 has a very slight cleavage in case you're
at work :dunno

    - Yes, your colours are definately "up there".
    - Hip-Shootin'..... Interesting concept ----> Gutsy.

Gusty, I like that lol. Though mostly it's just highly inefficient when it comes to these types of pictures. I like it, though, but I shot maybe 800 pictures and came away with 12 I was happy with for this particular project. You get some really crazy angles, which are awesome. The one I submitted to DGRIN Challenge #24 was hipshot too:

The whole project was inspired by Anna Gaskell and David Lachapelle (a very weird pairing to be sure!). But I guess it's the way I work for now lol. I just have to learn to be more efficient headscratch.gif

like 1 and 3, but have no clue what they're about... Like the way the fruit is presented.

Not 'up' on the challenges, yet. Your style is definately distinct - It grows on a person.

? - Have you ever kicked yourself in the ass for not taking a traditional take on a subject, missing out on that "one in a lifetime"?

I really suck at thinking conceptually, but we had to have a narrative since they will be in book form, so I think the whole series is my ode to (Biblical) history's first "bad girl" (Eve). Hopefully since they're kind of programmed into thinking as an art/art history class they'll get more than I am able to explain (I am terrible at explaining too headscratch.gif)

#1 would have been really really good if you had captured 3 more inches of her head.headscratch.gif

Yes your colors are very punchy but it works for this set/mood.

I keep coming back just to look at these images.............. But I can't figure out why.

I'll gaze at one then move to another - Then someone honks their horn, prompting me to move on.

Yes, that chopped up head definitely gives it a very distinct quality of being abruptly cut off (pun intended) rolleyes1.gif

Thank you! I'm glad the colors suited. Hopefully the prints match them. I used the same company to make my photo book before and there was a very orangey tone to those pictures. Not sure how to help that headscratch.gif

That is the best compliment I've gotten - thank you! Though it must be the Anna Gaskell influence: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIfsDhhWJDk

Like a narrative that is elusive. (Maybe? Lol.)

But when you talk about the honking, you don't mean you're driving, do you? eek7.gif

No..... I'm equating it to having something distract you at a red light, and then end up sitting through the green. :D

I keep coming back, hoping to figure it out, but keep leaving in wonder.
