......I think Dan Plumer said it in another post, "You take what nature gives you"

Went looking for a couple of eagles around the river this morning. I was coming up on this dead tree that I've hoped many a time that a hawk or an eagle would be perched. Would have made a terrific shot opportunity. So this morning I could see something perched as I got to a little crest in the road. I could see it was pretty good size but it sure didn't have a white head. Hoping for the best I only discovered it was Mr. U-G-L-Y himself. :cry

Anyway, it sat for the longest time while I kept creeping closer in the truck. Got a few decent shots and I guess happily took what nature provided. :D

Still a raptor, although new world vultures are more closely related to cranes than birds of prey. I like number 4 the best.

Nice series of what nature gave you. I vote for #5, like the wings spread.

We get a few of these around the backyard but mostly the Black Vultures.

Thanks Jim. I did see a black vulture down in Texas once. I guess if you had to choose the best looking between the two then black would win. Still a homely bird. :D
