We went up to Yosemite for a quick look at the Moonbows. Here are a couple of examples.

Upper Yosemite Falls

Lower Yosemite Falls

Let's just say I was soaked after the lower falls trip :D

And one from the far side.

NICE Ian! These look a lot nicer than some of the "official" images I saw a few months ago. Great catch and it looks like a lot of fun.

Is Yosemite feasible for a day try? or a short weekend trip? Been looking for place to run away to.

It's a long day trip--three hours door to door for me (one way and excluding the giant wreck on 680). We stayed in the Curry Tent Cabins--they're just like you'd imagine :D

Make a weekend of it--but do it during the week...and go soon--before the water abates thumb.gif

Those are gorgeous, Ian. I haven't been to Yosemite since I was 14.

    Between 2 and 5 minutes.

To be honest, I wasn't sure how well it would work. But any excuse to go to the valley thumb.gif

I follow a Sacramento area group from Fred Miranda and they are constantly going up to Yosemite for moonbow shots and I was never quite sure what the big fuss was about, but now I know. Fantastic photos you really captured some excellent examples of the moonbow. Unless I look closely though these look like they were taken in daylight. The star trails give it away. Well worth the trip!clap.gif

Excellent, and a novel approach, too.

I hope you got a nice STAR tan as well! :cool

    Nice series!

I thought about going up to the park for a few hours last night, but my wife had to work today and we have only one car at this point.

BTW, I'm 1.5 hours from my door to the gate...:ivar

Thanks Dee! I hope you two are able to get up to the park.

Hey Corehead! Thanks for the comment. I was surprised how warm it was this trip--it really made for spectacular falls. But alas, no star tan lol3.gif

Mike, the park is amazing! I love this time of the year--the dogwoods are blooming and the park seems as if it's waking from a long sleep--beautiful. We are so lucky to live here.

I'm so happy that you went up and caught them! And I can't believe the predictor was correct!

    Thanks Marc!

The park is absolutely alive! The dogwoods are looking great, the falls are all going gangbusters. I would have loved to have the time to head up the mist trail as I bet that would have been absolutely breath taking.

Amazing that light from a ball of fire millions of miles away can be reflected off a tiny ball of rock hundreds of thousands of miles away and still make a rainbow... or, rather, moonbow, eh?

    Good stuff thumb.gif
