Candid Arts

So I have a possibly rather unusual and impossible question.

My roommate and I are shooting a wedding together in about two weeks. Each of us are shooting our own shots. We both have separate smugmug sites. Is there anyway to make one link to one gallery with all the photos so that the bride, family, and/or friends can go to to order prints, but my room mates sales go to her sales and my sales go to my sales. Basically I don't want the customer to have to go to two separate galleries, nor do I want everything in one gallery so any photo sales I make go on to my room mates sales history and therefore tax information.

I hope that all made sense, and I'm not at all hopeful that what I'm looking for can be done, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Put them all in one site, agree on the pricing and then just split the profits according to what sold each time a check arrives.

That's what we are going to have to do. But what about tax info and what not? The paperwork we get from SmugMug will show incorrect numbers for each of us... How much of an issue is that?

How about making a Community of both of you, and put your galleries there and give the link of the community to client. ??

You can also add some unique keyword to all photographs.

So in something like this, my room mate and I can both add our individual photos to the community. The client can go into the address for the community, and buy a photo, and the sale will reference to our specific sites?

Well i don't know in details. If you click the link and go to buy photos it do show different rates of photos from different members, the sale should refer to the site picture belongs to

That makes sense. This is awesome. I'm trying to figure this thing out. It seems though, at least in the community I'm making now, that when you go to it, it just shows a list of galleries, and you gotta click on the galleries to show the pictures in each gallery. How can you have it so all the photos are in one gallery from two different people's sites?

Check the structure of the link. Both of you can assign one key word to all photos you want to put in one place. Add those galleries to community. Then open the community page it will show Keywords, grab the link of the keyword and give it to client.

One challenge with keyword links is that you get no control over the presentation order of the images. You will have to see if that is an issue for you in this situation.

For something like a wedding, I would presume you want the images in chronological order.

That would be ideal, yes. But this is just my room mates best friend, very low key, low budget wedding, that we are shooting friday next week. So considering all that, and last minute, I think this will work just fine. Do you think that's an issues?

How out of order do you think they will be? Is there a way that, when I import my photos and rename them for the wedding (EX: weddingphoto 1, wedding photo 2, etc...) the my room mate imports hers and renames them she starts where I left off. Then we put them into the galleries, and keyword them. Would they then, on the keyword page in the community, be displayed my file name (i.e. ME [wedding photo 1, 2, 3] ROOM MATE [wedding photo 5, 6, 7])?

My guess is that they display in an order related to how they were indexed (which is probably related to when they were uploaded or when keywords were added), but I really have no idea how it works internally. I just know that one of the things that messed up my use of keywords is that I could not control the presentation order. You'll just have to try it to see what you get.

Ok. Well we'll play around with some test images and see how it works. Thanks for the tip though and insight.
