I have always wanted to try shooting horse racing.
Looks like it was around noonish, very contrasty shots with harsh lighting.
I like the first two (of the horse shots) best. The first one is great because instead of a straight on picture where you are 90 degrees to the action, there is some angle to it, giving the photo more depth. Even the 3rd one has a bit of an angle but it is not as pronouced.
The second photo is a great group action, but alot of contrast again. IF it was me, I might even crop it closer, ditch some of the background as the action is in the horses.
I like the first and third shot. Horses mid stride, pedal to the metal.
Passing the site of Bay Meadows the other day made me kind of sad. The banked track is still visible but all the turf is gone and the buildings have reduced to several piles of recyclable material. Horse racing doesn't have the pull it once did.

Hey Tango, I 've never been able to apply rule of thirds to sports shots, I'll have to try more.
