Nice flowers. However the last 2 are a little dark in some areas...I'm wondering if this was from your shadow

Apart from that, nice compostioin, nice exposure and very pretty flowers.

I believe the shadows are coming from the many trees around me. I agree, a bit dark... This is where these flowers bloom. Difficult shots to make.

I posted these from my smugmug account, and I have to say, they look more grainy than the original.

Johno, I like them. Do you shoot in RAW? I have shot quite a few wildflowers this spring in dark surroundings. By shooting in RAW (D70) I can then use Rawshooter to increase the exposure (and fill light if necessary), so that they come out just fine. I'll post an example later today.

These are not really wildflowers but they illustrate the point. First, untouched, straight from the camera, converted to jpeg with Rawshooter Essentials:



Now with increased exposure, fill light, shadow and highlight contrast, saturation and sharpness:

J, I shoot in raw sometimes. I understand "some" of the advantages of raw. A couple weeks ago I took a raw file to be developed... On my monitor it looked fine... On the print, well, it was junk.

I don't know if I over did it in PS raw or what. So raw scares me a bit. On this trip into the woods shooting raw whould have given me less shots. So, I took more in jpg than raw.

I hope to go back to this location and make another attempt.

Of course with PS you can do just as much damage to a jpeg as to a RAW image. What I like about Rawshooter is that it never changes the original RAW file; you can always go back and start over at a later time.

I agree that the RAW files eat up memory on your card. With a 1GB card, I've not yet had a problem but I probably will eventually.

We each have to stick with what we find comfortable, however. But I find it practically impossible to correct underexposure in PS (I'm a complete novice), but very straightforward working with the RAW file in RS :.
