Ok, I know this has been hashed severaltimes, but the more I read the confuseder I get. I want the best quality for prints. I shoot a 12 mp camera. I do some creative cropping. Currently I am using lightroom and exporting srgb and forcing long side to 4200 pixels. My thinking is 300dpi printer times 14 in (for 11 x 14). Is this overkill or not enough? If someone wants a 16 x20, will the lab uprez it? This makes for about a 7mb file to upload. I have read the info here http://www.smugmug.com/help/print-quality#minprintres and still cornfused.

Thanks,
John

Hi John, no worries. Just upload your original sized images. There is no reason to upres anything. The only thing upressing is going to do is take up more of your time when you upload them. The prints are not going to be noticeably different. With your camera at 12MP you have plenty of pixels to go around. Unless you severely crop your images they will be large enough for all the print sizes we offer.
