Can this image be saved?

Please say yes.

I did a bone head move and I forgot to put the iso on 400, and the flash on et +1/4

Can some one fix this image for me?

Slim chance. Especially of someone else doing it for you, because this is a jpeg file and it's going to look terrible if you try to crank up the exposure in post. Did you shoot it in RAW? If so you can see what's possible in camera raw or lightroom. I had a shot one time of a basketball game where shot twice in a row too fast for the strobes to recycle and the shot was almost black, but it was a great shot otherwise so I wanted to do everything possible to save it. I cranked up the exposure slider almost 3 stops and added some fill light. It looked really bad. Totally covered with noise and the colors were awful. I was able, however, with some noise reduction and high pass sharpening to improve things a bit and then converted it to black and white, and it actually came out looking really nice. There was still a lot of noise but as a black and white it gave more of an impression of film grain so it wasn't really a problem and in a way added to the shot. You could try something like this with the shot...

However, if possible just go back and reshoot if you are able to. This shot isn't about "the moment" (as far as I can tell, really I'm just barely able to make out that it's a horse) so just take another.

I didn't shoot it in raw, I should probably shoot in raw from now on, huh?

I gave it a shot, but the results are not worth posting. There's just not enough to work with here...sorry.

Well, that depends...What is your definition of "saving?" True enough, there is nothing in the histogram. But if all you need to do is prove Blackey the horse was in flagrante delicto with Alan Strang...

Too much? Fascinating movie, though. Highly recommended.

This is what's in there by applying a strong curve to the part of the image that contains data. This result is without any noise reduction. You can decide whether it's worth doing anything with this level of result or not.

I was, I know photoshop well, but some one always knows more then the next guy/girl.

So I was hoping that was the case in my case!

By the way I'm shooting in raw from now on and I'm in love with raw.

It saves your images and you got a lot more options specially coupled with photoshop.

I could do better if I had the RAW file.

Thank you Sam, I didn't shoot in Raw that time. But I'm going to shoot in raw from now on though.

My solution to images like that is to delete them in the camera.......

not to try to fix them after the fact.

;) Agreed. While RAW allows more latitude after the fact, there is no substitute for getting the shot right in-camera.

    Thanks everyone.

I've seen the light "raw light" and I like it.

I'm never going back to jpg quality again "in camera ayways"
