I mostly shoot my sons hockey games, but this is baseball season. Inside sports has it's own problems, but so does outside sports. I find my 70-200mm a bit short for baseball but I will make do. I might get the TC-14E II in the future. These were cropped quite a bit.

I'm in the same boat as you - from RI and usually shooting hockey. I also really like my 70-200mm for hockey but other than getting the pitcher and the batter in baseball I'm finding that the lens is too short. I also whined about the low lighting in hockey, now I find myself whining about the inconsistent light on the baseball field (bright sunshine on the pitcher and infield, but the batter is in the shade ofr vice versa.

I like the action you caught on the third picture.

Thanks, I like the third one best also. This was a cloudy evening so I did not have to deal with the sun and shadows.

You got some nice shots, my fav is #3thumb.gif

I also shot baseball with 70-200 2.8 and agree that it can be to short, plus I use 100-400L but it can be slow with poor light

70-200mm is short for baseball, especially if you have a full frame camera. However, if shooting at low ISO you should be able to crop and still get very good quality pics of anything in the infield, as it looks as if you have done. This assumes that you are at a field which allows you fairly close to the action.

For daytime baseball I generally I use the Sigma 100-300 F4 on my Pentax K20D (1.5x crop factor) with excellent results. I use the 70-200mm for shots of the pitcher from behind home plate and at night.
