This is a reshoot effort. As you can see heavily worked in PS for effect.
Did a color version also. Liked the BW.

No I don't think the effect is over the top. I like how you shot it -- looking upwards and not straight on. I may not of cropped in as close as you did, but then again I might of...don't know what the other would look like.

I do like how you have the face 1/2 dark and 1/2 light -- also with the other hand. Makes one look more closely to the photo.

One thing tho...just above his left eye is a bright spot...at first I thought it was his eye, but isn't. That could easily be fixed if it bothers you.

    Good job thumb.gif

Hi Michael.....I came back to your picture several times. I really liked the PP and the angle that you shot it. What bothers me is the format. It looks like a free crop and it is almost square. I believe if it was a standard 8X10 and you kept the top right where it is and loosened up the sides a little and let the rest go to the bottom, it would give it and effect of soaring towards the heavens...... And give it a more powerful comp, I THINK!......... azzaro

Hi Michael. I like the PP effect on the statue but not on the BG. The whole upper portion of the statue seems to blend into the BG too much. I think I would try to tone down or smooth out the effect on the BG with a layer/mask, or even replace the BG altogether if not with a solid color, then a gradient. Just my $0.02 (Keep in mind I'm not very "artistic" and may be missing something here).

BTW I think Azzaro is right in that the cropping is a bit tight on the sides.

Appreciate your taking the time to leave this take feedback. Thank you!

I did the reshoot specifically for the light dark contrast. It is a tight crop.
    :D
Was hoping the tight crop would assist the forced perspective. Maybe it
doesn't get that done so well. I see the spot you mention. Could be an
issue. Will think on that also.

    Again, thanks.

My thanks Azzaro. thumb.gif Nice to hear the take isn't exactly dead in the water.

The subject is.... well.... the subject. I suppose it depends on the
global audience reception given these times.

Was actually trying to get the effect you
suggest here by doing the free crop the way I did. Looks like I went
a little too far. Will definitely give a different crop a look see. Am sure it
    will help. :D

Thank you Jack. :D You know I whacked at it pretty hard in several ways.
Settled on this result. The BG is a deal no doubt about it. Nice point.

Work in masks and layers. What the hay is that? rolleyes1.gifI generally go in the
front door. Bang around the house a bit. Then out the back door all in one
take so as to speak. Its a problem when I can't back up when I am so
committed to what ever the hell I did to get to a point. I'm a problem
child. I really should get with the program in PS. Its on my ta do list. mwink.gif

    Nice bud... thanks!
think I'll just lay this one aside and give it some thought for a bit.
Maybe I can come up with another rant PS work up thats questionable.
Hopefully so. :D You know I can't hardly leave well enough alone with
standard fare. Except for flowers. I practically never push the them around.
    Pretty as is.

Mary Kim... Nice. Thanks. Not sure what else I can bend it into.
Thing thats was fun till the site shutdown was posting an image and
other folks worked with it into whatever. Kinda cool. So many creative
talented folks that know a thing or two out there.
Just like as seen here at dgrin.

Wow..posting a photo and seeing what others could do with it would be fun to see. There is a site I've visited once in awhile that does something like that, but not many visitors go there.

I think you worked your photo well and if you're happy with it that's the important part :D
