Good quality A4 printer and calibration equipment

So, yes, as per the title I'm looking for two things:
A good quality A4 photo printer, main requirements being producing the best A4 prints possible, preferably 5 or more inks, and a reasonable cost for new inks (Or good third party alternatives). I looked at A3 printers however decided I'd almost invariably just order A3+ prints online as it will be cheaper. But, is it worth getting an A3 printer for the occasional use of the large format, and the improved ink system? I'm not sure I can justify the cost...
A calibrator to allow accurate colour reproduction on screen, and potentially one that allows for calibration of prints. Is the printer calibration necessary or useful? Which hardware is best for this - The Spyder systems seem to come highly recommended?
Thanks for your time
