Nikon D200 "rotate tall" not working?

So, in the camera menu, rotate tall means when previewing it right? on the lcd?

Mine doesn't rotate them (it's checked to rotate) I noticed that this weekend while shooting the golf tournament in basically all portrait mode.

I caught a few times it was rotating them on the LCD but then it went back to not doing so.

Any ideas?

I think it's about time I reset everything, maybe try that?

That's the first thing I would recommend to do.

    Do you have both:

    Auto Image Rotation
    Rotate Tall

    ... turned on?

I believe I do. I left my camera at work, I'll check it tomorrow first thing.
    Should they both be on?

I'm pretty sure that yes, they both need to be set to "on".

The first allows the camera to set the auto-rotation information into the EXIF of the image file. The second probably uses that information to determine if the image needs to be rotated during review.

It's not working. Both are turned to the "on" position and I've shot 1 landscape & 1 portrait, still not rotating.

Rats! I was hoping for something simple.

I suspect that the orientation sensor is not working properly and may need to be sent to Nikon service.

I do suggest resetting the D200 first to see if it's a logic-state issue. I believe that you hold down the 2 green buttons to perform a simple reset and then there is a custom function to reset the Custom Menu (I think).

You might review all of your settings first to make sure you can easily put them back to your preferences later.

I just reset it w/ the green buttons, still the same. Must be that orientation thing. I've been debating sending it in for a spring cleaning, we'll see. I might.
