"Robert Smithson's monumental earthwork Spiral Jetty (1970) is located on the Great Salt Lake in Utah. Using black basalt rocks and earth from the site, the artist created a coil 1,500 feet long and 15 feet wide that stretches out counter-clockwise into the translucent red water. These are nice. I like them all, but especially the color and composition
of the pano.

I've heard of the Spiral Jetty and would like to see it one of these days.

Yes, a lot. It's in a migration path and not far from the Bear River Bird Refuge (http://www.fws.gov/bearriver/) and Golden Spike National Historic Site (http://www.nps.gov/gosp/). We spent some time looking for wild horses, but no luck.

I wish I had more time when I was out there. I was so close to the jetty, but just couldn't fit it in. When is the best time of day to photograph it?
