for the prurient cannon shooter.. the nikkor 14-24mm has bulbous front element that sticks out and so no conventional screw in filters can be used.:scratch

On a full-frame camera you would need to use large sheet filters to accommodate the very wide angle of view without vignetting. I suppose you could adapt a Cokin X sized filter using a custom bracket of some sort.

I believe that some motion picture filter holders use a bottom mount that could be adapted to a typical tripod mount.

Possibly even just adapt to the fixed lens shade itself.

The front element is 98mm and the Cokin X filters are only designed for up to 112mm, so you might get some vignetting at the widest setting. C'est la vi.

I know Lee makes a pop-on 100mm video lens filter holder, which may work with modification if the built-in hood is 98mm. Stick a couple elastic bands on and...?

This link was in the DPReview discussion:

(The product description says, "... there is no problem with vignetting your wide-angle landscape images with a DX sensor.*
*Vignetting under 18mm with a full frame sensor (FX).

At Adorama: The price is shocking but it seems possibly tailor-made?
