The obvious camouflage

I have not been over here on the WILD side before, as I just have not spent time pursuing critters unless they fall on me. Well today on a walk with my poochies these two young owls almost did just that, fall on me:wink As great as their camouflage is, I was cought by surprise when I randomly looked up and sighted the two sitting on a branch about 50 feet up. My dogs never did see them, so much for those big noses. At the very least it gave me an excuse to pull the 500mm out of the office.

If they hang out for a bit I hope to get some more with morning light so long as the fog does not roll back in.
Thank you for your comment:D

Nikon D700 and some fun glass.
I have only one other photo of a Owl in a natural surrounding taken years ago up in Montana, so I agree with you.
What is cool is that they are still on the same branch but the fog is low and thick today so I hope they hang on till the fog burns off. I asked around and it appears they are young ones still getting fed by the parents. They have been in the same location for a bit and may stay another week. I guess I could bag the office and go sit there waiting for that moment when the parents arrive with some grub? Well at least I may have to make a few visits over the next few days

These guys are fun to watch there heads do revolve into ridiculous positions especially when the crows fly over.
