#26~Glow in the dark....

I had to get this one done today and had lots of fun doing it! In a completely dark room with a glowing orb dangling from an unused background pole and a pen light that has red and blue/white light. Add a bulb setting and hold that puppy open for 11 seconds or so and wala!

Chaotic Universe!....

This was another shot that was spinning, I liked it but decided the other a stronger composition....

EDIT...
here is the first one with a square crop. I am thinking that did make it a stronger composition. Thanks for the suggestion Gail.

Wow!! Those are really neat. I actually like them both quite a lot, but the first is more colorful and spectacular. The second one has an oddly serene feel to it - subtle. Really quite lovely.

    You sure nailed the theme!!

I love the first one but I might square crop it and see what it looks like.
    Nice idea.

I love the square crop, Joyce! It really puts the spherical object center stage for you. thumb.gif

i guess i'm alone here, but i'd say #2 all the way. the first one has too many colors and too much going on for me (energy, anyone? ;) ), while the second one is softer, more unified in color and feeling, and starts approaching ethereal. it is really quite lovely.

    Agree
I agree Jag the square polishes it well...

question: Did you have to use a black light to get this strong of a glow?

Actually I used a hotlight to "charge" the orb then I would turn it off and get several shots before recharging. Because the shutter was open for 11 seconds...it came out nice and bright. I also was only about 24 - 32 inches from it. Another factor was the penlight...my arms were tired by the time I did all the swirling and movement around it with that light!

    thanks
thanks for the share.. I heard there was a 70% fall off rate after the first 30 seconds once charged.. I was gonna do something like this for the energy challenge and researched it, but I had never done it before and found it hard to capture it good enough...I will have to practice this someday in the future and leave that shutter open longer on bulb setting.. thanks for the input Jag!

Love them! Want to try something like that with an engaged couple and sparklers & their wedding date. Could be complicated, but I love a challenge!

    Nice work!
