fishin' trip
it's been a nice three days, lovely in fact. great fishing, wonderful company and plenty of relaxing. too bad it has to end tomorrow :wxwax
anyhow, i wanted to share some shots with you - all in rough edit stages as i only have a laptop up here in the woods....
i was greeted with this sight when i showed up on wednesday night around 830pm
and then i saw this on the way to find some deer in the mist
found her
two views of the same spot on the south branch of the moose river...color with my 16-35L on the 1Ds Mark II. 10-stop nd filter used to gain a slow shutter.
and with the 10-22 ef-s onboard the infrared-modded digital rebel. 10-stop nd filter used to gain slow shutter.
the light's been mostly flat and hazy the whole trip. ah well, when given a bag of lemons, make lemonade, eh?
i gave my 100mm macro a bit of a workout, too....
another little stream, 1Ds Mark II with 16-35L and 10-stop nd filter
the loons are wonderful this time of year.
the fishing's been great this year - some of the best fishing in nearly 40 years, i wonder if it's becuase i switched bait :lol3
enjoy (fishing) photography,

All you managed to catch was a cherry ripe???:uhoh
(Andy, maybe you can go back when the light is more conducive to shooting......instead of lemonade:D )
I am glad you are enjoying! And didn't destroy the camera while catching fish. I like the laptop processing fine. Please send laptop. Soonest would be nice.
(There is an element of "difference", not the PS mode, the way I see your photos as having been worked up. Somewhat reminiscent of Dixie. Do you have any thoughts on your post work to share)
Otherwise keep enjoying, try not to let the "weather" get to you. Will be glad to "see" you when it is all over.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Like the others, I really like this one.
And the Loon shot is very cool.
I lost my scorecard about the time you re-acquired the DsmkII. What long lens did you have with you?

Figured it was up there. I spent my summers with my family on Indian Lake, and then summer camp up near St. Regis in the high peaks, backpacking. My parents later got a place on Lake Abanakee, in the town of Indian Lake. But they got too bored after 10 years in a county with 3 residents per square mile and not a single traffic signal. I have a deep, abiding love of the Adirondack State Park.
And, I'm jealous.
Dgrin FAQ | Me | Workshops
yep, i take the scenic route up there, and go thru indian lake it's just lovely. my first introduction was on a boy scout trip, canoeing from blue mountain lake to raquette lake. what a gem of a park. i know exactly what you mean, though, about the population :uhoh

So many nice shots, I can't pick a favorite thumb
Looks like you had a great time, got you fill of trout and came home with some excellent shots
So did those trout go nutz over the Cherry Ripe bait?....lol
Steve
Andy I think the first series of photos I saw of yours was a similar trip, maybe last summer? I've been impressed ever since, and these are no exception. You captured the essence of your love of the outdoors.

to be a participant!
I kept my empty package too!
I love the one of the deer eating -- can count the eyelashes!
The others are great too, the light was kind of nice in a way. I never got to spend a lot of time in the "mountains" "upstate" but it was a nice difference from suburbia and northern New Jersey. I remember when you went on a similar trip last year.
Hope you enjoyed your time away from civilization.
How many fish did you catch, and how come no "food" piccies!????
