NOT FOR SALE - I've decided to keep the lens.

While the 24-70/2.8L is a great lens, I do have a need for a bit longer reach, but also for an image stabilized lens in that range. Anyone willing for a straight-up trade for a 24-105/4L-IS? I have the original packaging plus the hood and all. Perfect glass. I'm expecting the same in your lens. Will post pics later but I'm well known around here.

    Bill,

I'm now shooting inside quite a bit and could use the extra stop. I have a 24-105L IS (excellent shape) that I'm willing to trade. I live in the D/FW area and could meet you somewhere halfway for the trade.

I sent you my phone number via PM.

I'm gone for the rest of the night to a strobist meeting.

    Would you consider cash instead?
    Hi!

If your trade doesn't work out, I'd happily give you $950 for your Canon 24-70 2.8L. I live just south of Austin in San Marcos and could make the exchange after taking a peek at the goods.

If interested, my e-mail is maxmearse@yahoo.com or better yet call me anytime day or night at 512-557-5150. I am needing this lens for a photo shoot next weekend and so I am a highly motivated buyer.

    Thanks for considering this,

    Max Mearse

The sale fell through. I'm posting two images here, available as hi-res downloads here:

    http://mercphoto.smugmug.com/gallery/8385455_7iWnH#550250308_esGH7

The first is a sky shot at f/22, processed through Aperture with zero adjustments or cloning. I do see a bit of sensor dust but if someone thinks it is due to front element nicks please let me know. I also have a shot of the front element itself.
