Help Needed on Monitor Calibration

What's the best method to calibrate monitors so that the colors are what they meant to be? I heard about Firefox... Could anyone comment?

You've got to buy a calibrator in order to doit right. I use a Spyder but there are a few others out there. It makesa world of difference.
