picnik.com file resizing

The last few weeks I've been using the picnik.com link to edit and 'enhance' photos. I discovered today that unfortunately the photos file size have decreased to usually 25% to 40% of the original size, which means that the 'enhanced' image must have been saved at a lower jpg compression... I will have to replace any images when someone orders them. Some of them have decreased to about 1/7th of the original size... A warning about this problem should be listed on their or smugmug site, so others don't get hit by this.

I wish that I had known this before using picnik. Picnik has been useful to rotate small amounts, sepia, etc. for features not working in smugmug... by the way sepia still not correct in smugmug.

Are there any fixes or updates to the picnik application, or replacement for this feature?

Hi, I'm sorry that Picnic does this. I don't know many pros using Picnic for editing, so it's not been something that's arisen in this regard. We'll try and update the help page with some more info.

    Thanks!

I can't believe that it took me so long to notice the problem. Picnik was useful to edit photos when not at my office, but that sure turned out to be a mistake... I'll only fix them if someone wants them... fortunately I have all of the originals and most parents wait to the end of the baseball season to order...
