HELP! I've just transitioned from PC to Mac. Does anyone use iPhoto w/ photoshop? iPhoto is killing me! Having big problems exporting photos from iPhoto to smugmug (super slow) and can't seem to navigate TO iPhoto from smug... host of other issues but I'll leave it at that. I wanted to try iPhoto since it was there and i'd heard good things about it... but all I've had so far is frustration.

    Hi Darci,

Sorry to hear about your difficulties getting started.

You have some options. You could use MacDaddy which has iPhoto support or you could use the iPhoto plugin. Another option would be to drag photos from iPhoto to our Simple uploader, but that might not transfer metadata from iPhoto.

iPhoto is fun, but not really a photographer tool. You may want to check out Lightroom, and Jeffrey Friedel has a great plug in that provides integrated Smugmug uploading.

Yeah, that happens a lot. iPhoto is fun, but the features are not very professional. Since you have Photoshop, you have Bridge. Think about building a workflow around

your camera > Bridge > Adobe Camera Raw or Photoshop > Bridge > Smugmug

I don't use an uploader plug-in, I just drag pictures from whatever I'm using (Finder, Bridge, Lightroom, etc) straight into a Smugmug uploader web page or app.

Lightroom is great, I prefer it, but it's another $300. You can do most of that with a bit more trouble, in Bridge. I guess if you want an iPhoto-like experience at the pro level you could go with Lightroom (or Aperture, same thing).

Thanks all - I have both LR & PS, so I'll stick with those. I'll check out the suggest plug-ins too, thanks!
