Just thought I would throw this up. New studio lights from Paul C. Buff. He's apparently going to make it as hard as he can on his competitors. New Alien Bees have built in radio controllers, digital backs, and 250w modeling lights...and are a little more expensive...but from what I've seen, might be well worth it...if they perform as advertised.
Check it out.

Remember, no one may want you to take pictures, but they all want to see them.

First, thanks!
Second, totally not on topic of the post at all but..
I swear that I had to read your post six times before that first line didn't say "I just threw up"
That is so freakin' funny......just had a minute...I was on my way out...
Still laughing...

I especially like the commander unit (which serves as a ligthmeter, trigger and power control) and the new parabolic modifiers.
I wonder if they take older ABs as trade-ins...
You know, I wondered the same thing...especially if you purchased the AB's recently. I do know that they offer a 50% discount on the Vagabond 2 battery pack if you bought the original Vagabond 1 in 2007 and a 25% discount if you bought the original as early as July 2005.
The commander unit and triggers look promising.

I got mine about a year ago, add or shave a couple of months. I wonder if I need to give them a call.
No luck on trading in the older units (unless theyr were purchased before Feb 26 2009 or something like that). I guess that also rules out using Total Commander. :cry
The only piece of good news is that the new parabolic reflectors gonna have shaft mount (like your standard issue umbrella), so they are likely to be compatible with any flash unit, not even necessarily AB/PCB...
By any chance somebody needs 6 AB lights (4xAB800 green + 2xAB400 yellow), less than one year old, in great condition?
