Blueberry Flower with a Surprise

Was taking some bug shots today. It was very dark and rainy, so getting consistant light was difficult.

Found this blueberry flower, very small - about the size of a pencil eraser - and inside was a tiny crab spider with a gnat it had caught:

Lots of noise in the dark areas, shot at ISO400 ( on a Canon 50D). What's the best tip to resolve this?

Thanks,

Z

Reworked a couple to reduce noise. Any improvement?

Nice captures by all - that is a small spider !

Re the noise did you try a noise reduction prog like the free version of neatimage ?

Assume you were using flash for this ? did you have to brighten the photos in PP ?

You will always get some noise in dark areas but using a lower ISO (with flash) and getting the exposure correct will reduce them. Using flash with a good diffuser also helps as it speads the light a bit reducing the contrast and lighting the darker areas a bit better.
