If you are considering that Leica you should also consider the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3 as they are fairly identical except for the name and the Leica claim that they have higher quality standards.

Both are really nice cameras but also consider all your options, including other cameras.

Eddy - here's a nice dpreview of the Panasonic DMC-LX3, which is basically the same/similar camera due to their partnership w/Leica:

    http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/panasonicdmclx3/page17.asp

The consensus on this camera is that the Leica lens is fantastic...sharp, fast and bright, with a great wide angle. The corresponding downside of focusing their engineering attention on these attributes, is lack of any real zoom (which isnt a problem for me - if you've got decent resolution, you can always crop into something later). Another key aspect is all of the manual/direct control that the camera offers. So, if you are a creative/manual photographer on the dSLR with good understanding of exposure, you'll be happy with Leica in this regard. The choice of 3 aspect rations is also a compelling feature. However, if you'd prefer more of an automatic camera with all of the latest consumer-oriented bells and whistles, like megapixels and superzooms, then this is not the camera for you.

The LX3/Dlux4, along with the Canon G10, are generally considered to be the top options for an advanced amateur or pro who want a great compact camera on the side. The LX3 is cheaper than the Leica model, but it's also somewhat difficult to find in stock.

Here's one bloggers comparison of the Dlux4 vs LX3
