Looking for input - Canon remote

My fiancé recently attended an event where they had a 'photo booth' set up, using a DSLR and a wireless remote for people to take their own shots.

This is wonderful for me, because I've been wanting one, and this is basically a blank check to buy one 'for' our wedding!:clap

So, I've got a Canon Rebel XTI, and I need to purchase a remote for it, Ideally it would be wireless, though I suppose if the cord is long enough...:dunno

Does anyone have input about what's out there, and what's coming?

(Wedding is Aug 7, 2010, so plenty of time if there's some new tech coming out that I should wait for...)

Thanks in advance!

Ok, after I did some research and we talked again, it seems the setup was a little different... I'm hoping my XTI will still be able to do it. Here's what they had, and what she liked:

    external flash, umbrella type
wireless remote (I'm looking at the Canon RC1, anyone know why I woudln't want this one?)
Pictures taken display on a screen for the group to see (I just checked, and it seems that the XTI can do this, it's pretty basic, just uses the external monitor, instead of the LCD screen...)

I think I'll get an A/C adapter for the camera, so I don't have to worry about running out, or switching batteries...

Anything I'm missing? I'll just need to rent the flash, but the rest I think I can wrestle together...

The RC1 works with infrared and needs a line of sight to the camera. If that is provided it should work fine. Otherwise have a look at the eBay radio remotes for firing cameras, they are less than $30 and need no like of sight.

Do you provide some kind of instant photo/print feedback to the "customers"?

Nah, I'm just gonna do some quick batch processing afterwords (after the honeymooon...) and put them on Smugmug for the guests!

Thanks for the info about the RC1 all the other radio remotes I was seeing had some poor reviews, does anyone have a favorite? I'm looking for one that'll last a while, so I don't mind paying a little more...

search is our friend. google too.... linky on drin

As for other remotes and random stuff, deal extreme is my favorite hong kong dealer for stuff.

Cheap. Free shipping (might take a bit of time)... what's not to love?

The search engine is a bit clunky, but you can't be the price; you can buy them all...

    clone of the IR remote
another version of the IR remote
    another IR one, i think
a version of the ebay ones

I received a concerned PM about dealextreme and how it's showing up on fraud/scam alert sites, etc.

Some food for thought.... (positive and negative)

I haven't ordered anything from them in months, and the shipping isn't the fastest, but then again, it's free, and I don't buy any high price items which are usually under $10.

So... think before you order. i can say that I haven't had any problems with my previous orders and for random camera stuff, i've been satisfied.
