Dressage show last week-end - C&C welcome
The lighting in the indoor arena is a challenge. There are rows of lights high up in the rafters. On all 4 sides of the arena are a series of garage doors which can be opened (as seen here) on warm days, or closed in the event of inclement weather. Both create lighting challenges - back lighting etc., further complicated by the need to be far away from the competition ring.
These were shot with a 70-200 f/2.8 IS , ISO 800, 1/180 - no flash
This one was shot outside while the competitor was waiting to enter the arena. The focus was deliberately on the elaborate braids.

and I do believe its true.. that there are roads left in both of our shoes..
Will do. Unfortunately the outside arena was only used for warm-up - all tests were ridden inside under these ghastly lighting conditions.
I'm not sure what's worse - when the doors are open and you have to try and compensate for the back light, or when they're closed and you have to run at ISO 1600 or more just to get any light to your sensor. Sigh.
