    Simply beautiful.

Are you useing a "blind" to get this close? I would estimate you are within 20 to 40 feet of your subject?

No, no blind. A few were taked from inside my car. The one with the tree swallow with its fethers blown by the wind was on a tripod standing close. I was as close as 11 feet on some with a 500mm lens and a tripod on some. Most were between 11 and 25 feet.

The chicks and the peek out of the birdhouse photos are a bit of a crop.

I was at my sons soccer game today. there is an old barn near the field. throughout the game the swallows would fly onto the field, they are extremely fast!!! I said to myself how I wish i could " shoot " them, they never stood for very long anywhere - so i am AMAZED AT YOUR PICTURES!!!!
    AMAZING!!!!

    I wanna know...
how many photos you took that day "didn't make the cut"?

I was looking at your gorgeous photos and thought, how'd he do that?
Hmmmm, put some food out and then go hide behind a bush with a 1000mm lens?
    Hmmmm, he talks "bird"....
Hmmmm, he's got to be one very patient dude!

Whatever your secret, these are great. It's only in trying to shoot birds myself that I have greater respect for photos like these! Mine look nothing like yours, that's for sure!

Ditto, with the you should post more often!

    Gene,

You should be ashamed of yourself for bringing out the "big gun" on these small defensless lil birds :lol I mean it's one thing to shoot hawks, eagles, herons and egrets with it. They are big nasty birds and can handle the heat.....lol

Just kidding and thanks for posting these. They are excellent as usual. thumb.gifthumb.gif I was just thinking of you, while responding in another thread titled "Intimidation"....lol I look at your bird shots and think I'd be better off taking up a new hobby rolleyes1.gif I just wish I could blame your success on the equipment you use, but I know better.....lol

Please continue to share these types of shots. They are inspirational and they motivate us to make our own shots better clap.gif
