The Black Widow is very similar to the Australian Redback.

Those sacks can hold quite a few babes.
Im guessing the mortality rate must be pretty high for babies,
I have quite a few Redbacks in my garage, but considering how many babies they have had, I rarely see any young ones around.

Thanks, Brian and Skippy. This one chose an abandoned vase as its home so some of the little ones still hang around the confinement.

Great shots, but I'm afraid I would be pouring some flamabale liquid in that vase and dropping a match. There is only one good spider in this world, and that is one that let's me shoot it, then kill it. I hate spiders. Interesting shots though.

I don't like having spider web tangled in my face and hair either, but they do contribute to keeping down the insect population. I usually leave them alone as long as they're not inside the house.

Haha. I'll pass, although some aboriginal cultures still do that with larger spiders.

As I know that to be true, I just can't let them live around me. I got 26 bites in one night once, spiders love me too much for me not to kill everyone I see.

I agree! Those things are poisonous (I spent 3 days in the hospital once after a baby black widow bit me and i couldnt move my legs).

However, i do like the second photo, great shot. You're brave too.
